So many of the great moments of the golden age of motorsport started with a twinkle in someone’s eye, a garage and a lot of hard work. You could say the same for some of us, but that’s another story!

Alex Kelsey’s Mad Creation 2 is a rally car built in his family’s barn in Coromandel. It’s brutally fast and belts out an engine note that puts any symphony we’ve ever heard to shame. You need to see it.

Inspired by fellow New Zealander and engineering genius John Britten, Alex Kelsey has spent the past 18 months designing and building an insane rally car based on some pretty clear design goals.

“It needed to look good. It needed to sound good. It needed to be easy to work on and it needed to be cheap to maintain.”

The car, the MC2, seats a Peugeot body over a V6 Renault race engine and suspension designed by Kelsey. It’ll do zero to 200 kilometers an hour in around seven seconds.

Kelsey has a proven track record under his belt already, having won a round of the New Zealand National Rally Championship in his first car – a modified Subaru.

The go-getter spirit and innovation of the golden age of motorsport is strong with this one, and can’t wait to see how he goes when he debuts the MC2 at Rally Hawke’s Bay.

Get to know the car and the mind behind it in this video from 3 News.

And then hop on board for some fierce rallying action in this one!

The 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting – Reviving the spirit of club racing.

Following a dormant period of almost half a century, the Member’s Meeting format returned to Goodwood in 2014 with the inaugral 72nd edition. Following its success, the Goodwood Motor Circuit once again played host to over 400 historic racing cars which went head to head over 12 events and two days in 2015.

With the focus of the event to revive the racing spirit once experienced from 1948-1966, the Member’s Meeting also made room for some high speed demonstrations from some of the most loved historic racing cars.

Although the weather was bitterly cold at times,  the smell and sound of these legendary machines warmed our hearts and made every moment worth it.

Datsun 1600

Image thanks to the Shannons Club

Balancing crisp, ageless styling, practicality and bulletproof reliability, Nissan’s Datsun 1600 went from the showroom floor to a Bathurst-dominating classic in record time.

Handsome looks, practicality and reliability made the Datsun 1600 a success on the road, and on the track it was even better.

The stock car was a light and nimble number that tipped the scales at a featherweight 915 kilograms. This lithe body meant the perky 1595cc four-cylinder motor under the bonnet was more than ample when it came to the speedier stuff. Front disk brakes, MacPherson strut front suspension and semi-trailing arm independent rear rounded out the handling.

The package was affordable and bulletproof, and went on to put a serious stamp on the history of The Mountain. Enjoy its story in Datsun 1600: Bathurst Supercar at Supermarket Price thanks to our friends at the Shannons Club.

Nardi-Danese 6C 2500

Put on a helmet and goggles, and go back seventy years to spend some time driving and learning about this beautiful and incredibly rare 1948 Nardi-Danese 6C 2500.

Dick DeLuna is a racer, and a man who’s clearly at one with the spirit of historic motorsport. He found this stunning old Nardi, when it was just a beaten-up Italian race car of indeterminate origin, worked out what it was, and gave it an astonishing nut-and-bolt restoration. Then, he got out and used it. A lot!

He just got back from a rally through Africa comprising 28 days, 6100 miles and five countries. We love it.

“The thing is a race car. And because you’re sitting down so low, you feel every bump; every movement.”

The car is one of just three Nardi-Danese 6C 2500s made. In the ’30s Enrico Nardi got his start as a test driver and engineer for Lancia and Scuderia Ferrari. He went on to make three of these cars for the Mille Miglia and Targa Florio at the end of the ’40s.

This car is one of those three, and raced extensively in period.

Today it’s clearly in good hands! This short film by Petrolicious spends some time cruising through the golden hour as Dick DeLuna talks about his 6C 2500’s tech, history and feel. Brilliant.

King of 935s: 1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP

1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP

Images: Canepa

The last production-based car ever to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans overall was one which pushed the idea of Porsche’s 935 to its zenith – a Kremer 935 K3. This car, a 1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP, is a K4. So it’s even faster. And it’s up for sale at Canepa.

When Porsche switched their focus to the 936, 956 and 962, customers were still devastating competition in their mighty 935s. And they wanted to develop them and stay competitive.

1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP

Happily, Porsche had allowed a select few racing teams to purchase components and drivetrains from the factory, and they would go on to design and produce their own chassis and bodywork. Kremer is amongst the most famous and successful of these teams.

They’d been working closely with Porsche since 1970 and had been independently developing racing Porsches for some years by the time it came to working on the 935. The K1 was the first in 1976, and by 1981 they were moving on to the fourth iteration – the K4, which was based on Porsche’s Moby Dick 935. Porsche had even given them drawings, parts and the car itself to work with in their development, so the K4 would be serious.

1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP

This car is 01 and represents a full half of the K4s produced. It is a very different machine to the original Porsche 935.

Kremer Racing set it loose on the European racing scene during 1981, where Bob Wollek drove it to six podiums along with wins at DRM Nurburgring and in the Norisring Trophy.

1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP

John Fitzpatrick bought it in 1982 to compete in the IMSA series, modifying it further with a completely new body, new rear suspension and belly pans, enhanced air-to-air intercoolers and other modifications that produced another 50 horsepower over competing 935s. When they cranked the turbos all the way up the car would put out well beyond 800 horses.

This development helped 01 pick up wins in the Mid-Ohio 100-Miles, Lime Rock 1-Hour, Road America 500-Miles and Mid-Ohio 6-Hours as well as a class win in the Brands Hatch 1000-Kilometers.

1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP

In ’83 the car raced twice, winning the Riverside 6-Hours. 1984 would see it rented to Al Holbert, where it gained the stunning Lowenbrau livery you see it wearing today.

In 1986 it was sold to Mike Hagen and has since moved through a few owners’ hands, including a stint in the ownership of Nicolas Cage.

1981 Kremer Porsche 935 K4 IMSA GTP

When it arrived at Canepa K4 01 was given a complete mechanical inspection along with concours-worthy detail work. Looking at it now, it’s absolutely gorgeous and looks immaculate.

This car represents the zenith of the development of one of the most significant machines in sportscar racing – the Porsche 935, and is a storied and impressive machine on its own merits. It’s an absolute marvel of engineering and development; a work of art, and is up for sale at Canepa. Head to their website here for the full details.

Dick Johnson 1989

In which Dick Johnson takes an excursion from the track, parks in the tyre barrier and unleashes an interview of such majesty it’ll make your week.

Held at what is now Sonoma, then the Sears Point International Raceway, the 1989 Banquet Frozen Foods 300 put on 74 laps of the exciting road circuit. Road racing talents Rusty Wallace and Ricky Rudd would rush to the front and duke it out in a fantastic race-long battle.

“It’s as slippery as a butcher’s block up here.”

But the highlight for us would happen a little further down the order, when Dick Johnson took an excursion from the track late in the race. He parked it up on the tyre barriers with the front end pointing to the sky. While he was waiting to be freed from the predicament the ESPN commentators gave him a call to catch up.

The interview’s great and we’re not going to spoil it. Check it out, and make sure to stay until the end for the in-car replay footage as Dick makes his exit from the track!

This Works 1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class DTM Competition Saloon, driven in period by Jag Magnussen, Juan Pablo Montoyo and Ricardo Zonta is set to head to auction at Bonhams’ 2015 Mercedes-Benz sale.

And, suddenly, we want a C-Class!

1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class DTM Competition Saloon

This car, RS 96 02 30, was Mercedes’ Works entry in the 1996 Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft and International Touring Car Series. It was prepared and entered by AMG and sponsored by Warsteiner.

Mercedes were on a hot streak in the mid ’90s. They’d won their first DTM Championship in 1992 with Klaus Ludwig and the awe-inspiring Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evo2, and had followed it up in ’94 and ’95 with the W202 C-Class.

DTM itself, however, was in a more tumultuous position. The DTM and ITC series were combined in 1996 to become the International Touring Car Championship. This meant a great deal more travelling expense, and the series suffered under its various financial burdens. At the end of the ’96 season it was cancelled and would not return until 2000 as the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters.

1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class DTM Competition Saloon

This car raced during that season and contested every round, driven primarily by Jan Magnussen. Magnussen would be behind the wheel for 11 out of the car’s 13 rounds and secure its best results. These came in its debut in Hockenheim, where Magnussen drove it to second in the first race, and went one better in the second to take a win.

The pair followed up when they got to round two at the Nürburgring, claiming another podium in the second race. They would then enter a mid-season slump and it would be Sao Palo and Suzuka, the two final rounds of the season, before they were back on the podium for two more third-place finishes.

1996 Mercedes-Benz C-Class DTM Competition Saloon

Juan Pablo Montoya was in the very early days of his racing at the time, racing in the British Formula 3 Championship. He would get behind the wheel of RS 96 02 30 mid-season for a round at Silverstone. Brazilian and South American Formula 3 Champion Ricardo Zonta would also take a run in the car, contesting a round at the Nürburgring.

With the close of the 1996 season and the demise of the championship the car was placed into storage, where it’s been resting since. It’s in lovely original condition, and will head to auction at Bonhams’ Mercedes-Benz sale on the 28th of March, 2015. Hit this link to head to their website for more information.

This machine represents a living piece of history, run by a works team in a ground-breaking and exciting racing series. It’s also absolutely awesome, and we can’t wait to see it hit the track in anger again!

Fans of historic motorsports racing are eagerly looking forward towards the weekend of 10th – 12th April. From Friday to Sunday the eleventh edition of the Bosch Hockenheim Historic – Jim Clark Revival will be held in honour of the late Scottish F1 champion, on the famous Hockenheim Ring, featuring no less than 14 different classes and 12 racing series on the grid!

Porsche-911-RSR-1973-YTCC

This year the Bosch Hockenheim Historic focuses on Jim Clark’s triumph as he scored his first victory in Formula 1 during a race in Spa-Francorchamps, which took place 50 years ago. Tragically, two-time Formula 1 world champion Jim Clark was killed in an accident at the Hockenheimring in the first Formula 2 heat of the Martini Gold Cup on 7 April 1968.

McLaren-M8F-+-D-SuperSports-CanAm

Fans of historic Formula 1 cars will be treated with a grid of cars from different eras. Without doubt the fastest but also loudest cars of the weekend are the single seaters from the BOSS Series. Former Formula 1 cars, Champ Cars and Indy Cars, as well as cars from the GP2 Series and Nissan and Renault World Series compete against each other.

ATS-Lola-Formula-Super-Vee

Smaller and lighter than the cars mentioned above, but surely spectacular to see are the classic single seaters from the FIA Lurani Trophy and Formula V. The FIA Lurani Trophy is open for original Formula Junior cars built between 1958 and 1960 and 1961 and 1963. Cars that want to participate in the Lurani Trophy must have been constructed in period to the specification of the FIA Formula Junior. Formula V dates back to the early 60s, as the first American Formula V championship was held in 1963. Nowadays Historic Formula V Europe concentrates on the preservation and continuation of cars from this era.

Toyota-TF102-F1-2002

Furthermore fans of Formula cars will be treated with two demonstration runs, presented by FNT Team, featuring former Toyota Formula 1 cars. Besides this, Raceclub Germany will run presentation runs including an extraordinary grid of Formula cars, including historic grand prix cars, as well as cars from the Formula 2 and Formula 3 era.

Sports prototypes between 1966 and 1976 from the former Interserie and CanAm championships are nowadays gathered into the SuperSports Festival (2.0 litre cars) and some V8 big blocks from the Canadian-American Challenge Cup.

FIA-Lurani-Trophy_1

Modern touringcars and GTs from the German Spezial Tourenwagen Trophy H&R Cup will start their 2015 championship during the Bosch Hockenheim Historic. From the Netherlands, the Youngtimer Touring Car Challenge (YTCC) attracts a large amount of participants including cars as the BMW M1, Lotus Esprit, Ford Escort, BMW M3, just to name of few. Besides al this, spectators can see cars from the classic Triumph Competition & British GT, featuring the entire Triumph range, but also other British manufactured cars as the Austin Healey, Jaguar, Marcos etc. The Lotus Cup Europe will be present with cars from the Elise to the Exige Cup V6. Last but not least is the presence of the international DRM Classic Cup, bringing back the golden years of touring cars, featuring the Porsche 935 and Ford Capri Zakspeed Turbo.

Brabham BT6

Spend a few minutes going vintage racing in a 1963 Brabham BT6 thank to this brilliant little video that features lots of good bits sliding around on skinny tyres.

Father and son team Stuart and Jonathon Hughes got into motorsport like many quick drivers – racing go karts at an early age. Jonathon’s the man behind the wheel, and he’s pretty quick. From go-karts he progressed to Formula Vee and was eventually offered a drive in Formula 3. That’s where the plot-central twist comes in, however – the pair declined the drive, deciding that the costs and risks involved were too great.

It would be 2006 before they started looking into racing again, and they found their way through vintage racing. A Formula Junior race at the 2011 Silverstone Classic showed them where they wanted to be, and they set about finding a Brabham BT6.

They did – and it’s beautiful. The car raced in the Temporada Argentina in period and was on pole at Monaco for the 1964 Formula Junior race, with Jackie Stewart one spot back in second. It’s quick, and Jonathon’s clearly a tidy steerer.

This video from Drive tells their story, and features plenty of sliding about on skinny tyres set to the wonderful engine note of the Ford-powered Brabham BT6.

Alberto Ascari drove this beautiful Works 1950 Ferrari 275S/340 America Barchetta by Scaglietti in the 1950 Mille Miglia. You could be driving it next, once it goes up for auction at RM Sotheby’s’ Monterey Sale.

The car is chassis 0030 MT and is one of just two 275S Barchettas built. It was originally bodied by Carrozzeria Touring and was the first Ferrari sports racer to house a Lampredi engine.

1950 Ferrari 275S/340 America Barchetta by Scaglietti

It started its life testing at Maranello and then immediately traveled to Brescia where Alberto Ascari raced it in the 1950 Mille Miglia. Glory in that race, however, was not to be. Ascari and navigator Senesio Nicolini failed to finish.

The car then went back to Maranello where it was upgraded with 340 America 4.1-litre V12 specs. It was also shown at the 1950 Salon de l’Automobile at the Grand Palais in Paris.

1950 Ferrari 275S/340 America Barchetta by Scaglietti

Scuderia Marzotto then purchased the car and set about racing it throughout Italy. It would return to the Mille Miglia in ’51 and ’52, and race in the Targa Florio as well.

By 1957 the car’s period racing career was wrapping up and it was sold to the United States. Peter Markowski purchased it in 1967 and would own it for the next three decades keeping it involved in the community but not racing it extensively.

1950 Ferrari 275S/340 America Barchetta by Scaglietti

From here 0030 MT would head back to Europe and resume its racing career, now in historics. It was a frequent competitor at headline events including the Mille Miglia Storica and the Shell Ferrari Maserati Historic Challenge.

This beautiful old racer has an excellent history and is a significant piece of Ferrari’s motor racing story as demonstrated by Ferrari Classiche classification. It will be welcome at historic racing events the around the world and make a great entrant in any of them!

It will head to the auction block at RM Sotheby’s’ Monterey Sale over the 14th and 15th of August, 2015. Head to their site here for more information.

Lancia Rally 037

Enjoy a few minutes of aural ecstasy with the Lancia Rally 037 Group B on full noise.

While Audi was busy developing the four-wheel-drive system that would ultimately change the sport forever, Lancia developed the car that took rear-wheel-drive rallying to its zenith.

It was the Lancia Rally 037 versus the Audi Quattro A1, and when the two teams collided in the 1983 World Rally Championship the match-up made for thrilling competition.

The pair dominated the season, with Audi coming on strong in the second half as they developed the Quattro A1 and A2. The Quattro drove Hannu Mikkola to the drivers’ title ahead of Walter Röhrl, but Markku Alén, Attilio Bettega, and Walter Röhrl’s were able to scrape ahead to secure the manufacturers’ title by just two points. The Lancia Rally 037 became the last rear-wheel-drive car to win the World Rally Championship.

Technology may have moved on quickly for the 037, but its majesty hasn’t dulled at all. This video follows the cars around a few of 2013’s rally events, the 11° Rally Legend, Revival Valpantena and the Monza Rally Show, capturing some spectacular sideways moments and the stunning symphony of its fiery four-cylinder.

1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail FIA GT Endurance Coupe

Take a minute out of your day, and spend it with the ex-GTC Gulf Team Davidoff 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail FIA GT Endurance Coupe.

No words. This little beauty from eGarage distills motorsport glory down to its essence and allows you a minute of quiet time with the ex-GTC Gulf Team Davidoff 1997 McLaren F1 GTR Longtail FIA GT Endurance Coupe.

Apart from being jaw-droppingly gorgeous in its iconic Gulf livery, this machine has some great motorsport history behind it. It’s the final example of the iconic sportscar and was campaigned in 1997 by GTC Motorsport’s Gulf Team Davidoff operation as part of a brilliant season-long tiff between the McLarens and Mercedes-Benz AMG.

It raced in six FIA GT World Championship races and scored points in sixth-place finishes in the Suzuka 1,000 Kilometer and again in the final round of the year at Laguna Seca.

Pushing the carbon-fiber monocoque around is a bespoke BMW 6.1-litre 4-cam fuel-injected V12, which you sadly won’t hear howling in this video. You can, however, enjoy its stunning good looks down to the most delicious details thanks to eGarage’s beautiful camera work. Take a minute, and enjoy.

A Car In Which To Win: 1959 Lister-Chevrolet

The particulars of this car’s provenance may be murky, but its potential for podiums is undisputed. This 1959 Lister-Chevrolet is considered one of the fastest ’50s racers available today, and it could be yours when it heads to auction at RM Sotheby’s’ Andrews Collection sale.

Brian Lister got into developing race cars in the mid-1950s, and he had the engineering knowledge and financing necessary to back up his dream. His first Lister hit the track and found immediate success, and he soon found himself backed by Shell/BP with Jaguar supplying engines. Thus came about the legendary Lister-Jaguar and the world-beating “Knobbly”.

1959 Lister-Chevrolet

The Lister legend did not conclude with the Lister-Jaguar, however. After a string of British motors powering the Listers, eventually the idea came about to drop some American muscle into the cars. The Lister-Chevrolet was a beast, and it built a reputation to match. They dominated the SCCA Championships in ’58 and ’59, but unfortunately they would be the last of the Listers as production came to an end in 1959 leaving a legacy of just fifty cars, sixteen of which were Lister-Chevrolets.

And that’s what we have here, a Lister Chevrolet chassis BHL127. The car was finished with a Frank Costin body and powered by a Chevrolet motor. Its history suggests that Chuck Howard and Tracy Bird owned it in its early days, racing it at Road America and Elkhart Lake.

1959 Lister-Chevrolet

Jim Mullen would own it later, and it was approved by the Vintage Sports Car Club of America in the ’70s. Around that time it would head to England and pass through the hands of Barry Simpson, David Clark and Walter Becker. It was during this era that it was re-bodied with the Knobbly-style body it models today.

At this point in its life its documented race history would light up, and it won the BRDC Championship, won the British Grand Prix support race and won the Sussex Trophy at Goodwood twice. The turn of the millennium would see its competitiveness continue, and it has claimed a further 34 podium finishes along with all-time lap records for ’50s sports cars at Oulton Park, Goodwood and Spa.

1959 Lister-Chevrolet

It’s sold with FIA paperwork, a working race car’s spares package including spare engine and gearbox, along with historical and technical information.

This car is exciting in all of the right ways, and it’s a supremely-competitive option for any historic racer looking for a beautiful vintage machine. It’ll head to auction on the second of May, 2015, at RM Sotheby’s’ Andrews Collection sale, and you can find more information at their website here.

A Record-Breaking 254MPH in an MG in 1959

1959 MG Speed Record

Phil Hill braves the Bonneville salt flats in this experimental, with the emphasis on mental, teardrop MG. In it, he beat the flying mile record for the time by spooling it up to a mighty 254 miles per hour.

In a 1.5-litre MG!

The car is MG’s experimental land speed record car – EX-181. In it, Stirling Moss had driven to a land speed record of 245 miles per hour in 1957. MG clearly thought that the car had more in it, so they took it back home and kept developing it.

In the years that followed EX-181’s little 1.5-litre twin-cam supercharged MG A motor was bumped up from 1489cc to 1506cc. This enabled it to put out more than 300 bhp at a feisty 7300 rpm, running on methanol laced with a cocktail of nitrobenzene, acetone and sulphuric ether.

It was Phil Hill’s turn in the machine in 1959, and this brilliant little clip chronicles the team’s efforts on the iconic salt flats. Check out the driver’s seating position all the way out front!

Enjoy this stunning vintage footage of the fastest MG ever built, then the fastest 1.5-litre car in the world, at the hands of Formula 1 World Champion and 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Phil Hill.

And for a little more classic footage going behind the scenes making the car, hit go on the second video!

Full-On Ferrari Ferocity: On-Board a Ferrari 333 SP

Ferrari 333 SP On Board

Hop on board with Christian Pescatori as he works hard to keep a fierce Ferrari 333 SP in check and on point around Daytona.

This video comes from the 2014 Classic 24 Hour at Daytona and features Christian Pescatori at the wheel of a Ferrari 333 SP.

The footage is full on Ferrari ferocity, and only gets more exciting as Christian picks up the pace. Lap one gives the car a little time to stretch its legs and warm up, and then the action gets hot and heavy for lap two of the classic banked circuit. Turn it up and hang on!

Christian kicked off a successful racing career by winning the Italian Formula 3 Championship in 1993 and has since won the Sports Racing World Cup, the FIA GT Championship N-GT class and the Le Mans Endurance Series GTS Championship. He picked up a works drive with Audi in 2002, winning the 12 Hours of Sebring and claiming two second place overall finishes in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2001 and 2002.

Ferrari’s 333 SP kicked off its racing career at around the same time as Christian and signaled Ferrari’s return to sportscar racing after a two-decade hiatus. The Michelotto-built machine has a modified version of Ferrari’s 1990 641 Formula 1 V12 in it, and hit the racing scene in 1994 to contest the IMSA WSC class.

Ferrari had four 333SPs for the championship, and they did their best to fill the top spots of result sheets wherever they went. They took the top two spots in the model’s debut at Road Atlanta in 1994, and would pick up another four wins throughout the season. 1995 would see wins in the 12 Hours of Sebring along with four other races, eventually securing Ferrari the constructors’ championship along with a drivers’ title for Fermín Velez.

The 333 SP stayed competitive for an impressive time span as well, with updates to the car keeping it in winning contention in several series all the way through to its final race in the 2003 500 Kilometers of Monza.

73rd Goodwood Members Meeting

Enjoy two all-too-short minutes with the classic cars and historic motorsport of the 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting.

This latest video from Chris Harris on Cars heads to the 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting to soak in the atmosphere of an event that’s quickly becoming one of the great historic motorsport events of the year.

The beautifully-shot piece lavishes over a selection of glorious historic race cars before heading out onto the track to capture some of the racing. It’s quite a nice juxtaposition, actually. Cinematic slow motion shots of sideways Minis and flame-belching British Touring Cars play with a calm and reflective soundtrack.

The 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting was held over March 21 and 22, 2015 at the Goodwood Motor Circuit. 2015 saw its sophomore outing after it returned in 2014 to celebrate 71 club motor sport events held at the circuit between 1948 and 1966.

Hit play, and enjoy!

1934 Maserati 8CM

This 1934 Maserati 8CM is petite, light and fitted with a three-litre 8-cylinder motor. It was one of Maserati’s very early customer cars, from when they decided to sell their monoposto Grand Prix cars to private buyers.

That trend continues today with the car up for sale at Fiskens.

1934 Maserati 8CM

In January 1934 Mme Nelly Braillard of Paris ordered two cars for Benoit Felchetto to race in the 1934 season. Felchetto found some success in this particular car, winning the Monthléry French Grand Prix in September of that year. He would also take a sixth place at Coppa Di Piemonte and fourth at Pau in 1935.

In 1935 the car was sold to Gigi Soffietti who continued to race it through ’36 and into 1937, achieving a best result of fourth at Tripoli in 1935.

1934 Maserati 8CM

1937 and ’38 would see the car raced by Edoardo Teagno for Sueria Sabauda with continued strong performances. They claimed fifth in the Coppa Edda Ciano in 1937, repeating the result at Albi in 1938.

By the mid-’60s the car had been significantly modified and was dismantled to be rebuilt to original condition. It would be the new millennium before the car would renew its competition career, after Sean Danaher purchased it and completed a full restoration in 2000.

1934 Maserati 8CM

It’s since competed at the Goodwood Revival three times, won the Maserati Club’s Fangio Trophy, picked up a class win at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and taken home ‘Driver of the Day’ at the Nürburgring Oldtimer Grand Prix.

As a beautiful, original and historically-significant example of the Maserati marque, the car is welcome at historic events around the world. It’s sold with complete FIA papers, with HTP paper approvals currently under way.
