Race suits from legendary racers are heading to auction today, as part of Nate D. Sanders’ September 2014 auction.
Included in the auction are racing suits from Jim Clark, Jimmie Johnson, Tony Kanaan, Arie Luyendyk, Olvier Panis, Kimi Raikkonen, Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna.
The suits start at a gentle pace, with Olivier Panis’ 2003 & 2004 Formula 1 suit kicking off at $3,500. Tony Kanaan and Arie Luyendyk’s Indy 500 suits start at $5,000 with Jimmie Johnson’s 2001 suit starting at $7,500.
Things kick into high gear pretty quickly however, and you’ll be starting at $16,500 for Kimi’s F1 suit, $20,000 for Michael’s Suit, which he wore for the 2006 British Grand Prix, and the suit which the great Jim Clark wore in the Indy series during the mid-’60s will commence bidding at $58,000.
The race suit worn by Ayrton Senna will start its bidding at $72,500 – remember these are all starting bids!
