A field of 1/2 million pound Jags, Murray Walker commentating and drivers with names like Warwick, Brabham, Needell, Euser and Wolleck. This was the 1991 Monaco Grand Prix Jaguar XJR 15 race.
…and what a spectacle it was! 16 wealthy privateers lending £8m worth of Jaguars to professional drivers so that they could battle it out for glory in the Jaguar Intercontinental Challenge. Adding a little extra flair to the mix was the fact that Jaguar XJR 15 owner and music producer Matt Aitken had decided to pilot his machine himself.

The three-race championship ran as a Formula 1 support series, with a million dollars up for grabs in an all-out, winner-takes-all type arrangement. As you can imagine, the racing was fierce!
Of course the Monaco round turned out to be an absolute highlight of the series. This piece of footage featuring Murray Walker commentating is absolute racing gold.
