To spot a real-deal Cooper Monaco King Cobra in the flesh is a rarity, so take a look at this widescreen gallery and get your head around this very special rendition of the Type 61.
The Cooper Monaco King Cobra was designed in 1963, using a British designed chassis, equipped with an American Ford 289 V8 engine.
All the King Cobra´s that were built used a Huffaker or Colotti 4-Speed transaxle.
The 90° Ford V8 had a displacement of 4727 cc, using 2 valves per cylinder, producing 271 bhp at 6000 rpm, at a weight of 590kg.
When we compare the standard Type 61 chassis to the King Cobra, the latter is 8.5 inches wider, 4 inches longer and 2 inches lower. It’s a very exciting machine indeed.
