Straight from the pipes of a Historic Formula Junior champ, this is what the original Ford 105E-based Lotus 18 engine sounds like.
It wasn’t driven by Clark, Moss or a Taylor, however this Lotus 18 is still a champion. In the hands of current owner Robert Barrie it’s won the Historic Formula Junior Championship. It’s completely authentic, beautifully restored and it sounds fantastic.
The car originally came from the United States, campaigning on the West Coast and in Canada for a number of years before moving to the UK sometime during the middle of the 1990s. Since then it’s been rebuilt perfectly and has spent years racing with the best.
This quick video showcases the Ford 105E-based Lotus engine revving up at Goodwood. The 8,500+rpm capable motor sounds glorious! Enjoy.
