Spend a weekend getting to know one of Australia’s great touring car racing teams – Gibson Motorsport.
The team recently reformed to support the historic racing scene and preserve the history which they helped to form.
This relaxed video chats with Alan Heaphy, Fred Gibson, Paul Beranger and more to go behind the scenes into the Gibson Motorsport of past and present. It’s cut with some excellent period footage to tell the story of the team which oversaw the rise of Godzilla in Australia.
It’s full of interesting insights into the team, the sport, the cars and the drivers and is well worth a watch.
Gibson Motorsport built up an impressive legacy through their two decades of competition, ultimately leaving the sport in 2003. Fast forward a decade and they’re back to protect and nourish that legacy.
Today the team supports the cars of their golden age, bringing the cars together and engendering a friendship between the people who own and race them today. At Historic Sandown in 2014 they were able to bring together twelve of the fifteen cars available, so they’re clearly doing something right! We’re thrilled to see these cars, drivers and the category in general being supported so generously, and wish them great success.
Hit play, and enjoy!
