Nürburgring Winning Chevron B16Quick video captures the beauty, and glory of the Chevron B16 chassis #1. A car which was built in July 1969, and won it’s first race at the Nürburgring. The race was a 500km haul and it was British racing legend Brian Redman in the cockpit. The light and nimble B16 made the absolute most of its Cosworth 1.7 litre engine, pushing 170 miles per hour at the limit.

Redman’s story goes that in practice for the Chevron’s first race at the Nürburgring, the car would become airborne twelve times per 14-mile lap. The B16 was so slow in fact, that the three factory Abraths were a full 22 seconds faster per lap.

A marathon of suspension tweaks and trackside aero modifications saw the Chevron B16 go from zero to hero that day – it was in pole position before the race began. Once the main event began, the dominance of the B16 was clear – it lead the race clear from start to finish.

This quick video celebrates that victory at the Nürburgring, with Brian Redman and some terrific footage of the very same B16.
