This lovely lime green Lola T292 was built in 1973 for three-litre Group 6 sportscar racing. Spend some quality time with it in this stunning widescreen gallery feature.

Lola presented two sportscar prototypes at the beginning of the 1972 motorsports season, one of which was a three-litre car for Group 6 racing – the Lola T290. For the 1973 season Lola developed the T292, an evolution of the two-litre T280. And that’s what we have here!

Bob Marston, Patrick Head and John Barnard designed the T290’s aluminium monocoque chassis. This would be surrounded by a fibreglass-reinforced plastic body with Lola’s traditional good looks. When it came to the T292 the team decided that the original chassis would be kept unchanged. However, they decided to relocate the rear brake discs from the inside of the rear wheels to both sides of the Hewland 5s-peed manual gearbox.

The Lola T292 was developed to run both the 2.0 and 3.0 liter four cylinder engines. Lola built 29 T292s fitted with a four-cylinder 2.993 liter Ford-Cosworth DFV 90° V8. Anyone lucky enough to drive one would enjoy a lively 445 bhp / 332 KW.
