The Historic Sports and Racing Car Association of New South Wales kicked off 2015’s historic motorsport season in style over the 21st and 22nd of February, putting on a full weekend of brilliant historic racing for a full and varied field of classic racing machinery.
The weekend was all about historic sports and racing cars, exciting on-track action and good friends on the classic Wakefield Park circuit. And it certainly delivered!
Thanks to good organisation and clean racing it was one of the smoothest motorsport events we’ve had the pleasure of attending. There was nary a lift between events, so the track was always full-throttle with great cars from the full range of fifth category historic racing machinery.
The event featured everything from early specials, MGs, Coopers and co in Groups J, K and L to the beasts of Group C and Group A Australian Touring Car racing in the Heritage Touring Car Series and all the magic motorsport machinery in between.
The drivers weren’t holding back either. We enjoyed some cracking races throughout the weekend in all categories, and it’s a real joy that these machines are maintained so beautifully and pushed so hard on the track.
Off track the drivers are universally open and friendly, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to have a chat, learn about the cars and racing, and get up close and personal with all manner of historic racing machinery.
Enjoy these shots from the event, thanks to Seth Reinhardt, and make sure to head to hsrca.com where they have a whole lot more, and to join the guys on Facebook here.
