During the weekend of 6th, 7th and 8th September, Circuit Zandvoort in the Netherlands will host the 8th edition of Historic Grand Prix Zandvoort.
Since its inaugural running, Historic Grand Prix Zandvoort has held an indelible place on the historic motorsports calendar. For 2019 Zandvoort will once again be the only race track in the world to host all four historic FIA championships, headlined by the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship and the FIA Masters Historic Sports Car Championship.
The Formula 1 World Championship will return to Circuit Zandvoort in 2020 after an absence of 35 years, so special attention will be given the Formula 1 cars from the 1966-1985 era. Sports cars from 1962 to 1974 will revive the glory times of Le Mans and Daytona gathered into historic sports car championship.
The other two historic FIA championships, the FIA Lurani Trophy for Formula Juniors and the FIA Historic Formula 3 European Cup, are both set to return. Besides these four great FIA championships, Historic F2 Championship and the Tourenwagen Legenden will thrill the crowds.
No less than 30 historic Formula 2 cars from 1967-1978 will fill the grid including Ralt, Chevron, March, Lotus and Brabham designs. In the Tourenwagen Legenden touring cars from the DTM’s glory years and various Super Touring championship cars of the nineties, like the Mercedes 190E 2.3-16V Evo 2, BMW M3 E30, Ford Sierra RS Cosworth and many more, will see action.
The action-packed programme also sees participation by the Masters Gentlemen Drivers (for pre-66 GT cars) and Masters Pre-66 Touring Cars races, the Dutch Historic Motor Racing Club, the Dutch championship for 1966-1981 GTs and touring cars and finally the Historic Grand Prix Car Association with pre-66 Grand Prix cars.
On top of all of the racing action over the three days, both Porsche and BMW will run daily demonstrations featuring a sample of cars that have thrilled racing fans over the years. Tickets for this great and not to be missed event can be found here.
