2020 is turning out to not be the most hospitable year for motorsport, but here in NSW we were able to head out one last time before locking down to weather the COVID-19 storm. The HSRCA Autumn Festival was held over the 21st & 22nd of March at Wakefield Park, bringing a small field of historic sports, race and touring cars out to play. Scroll along, and enjoy some photos of the action.
For obvious reasons fields were down and with no spectators allowed and strict controls in place to manage numbers and conduct, the event did not have the atmospheric buzz of a more usual historic meeting. However, spirits were high and competitors very grateful of the opportunity to run. Although quiet, the event was a ray of light that served to buoy spirits in a challenging time.
The Autumn Festival was open to all classes, with strong entries of Group S classic sports cars, Group N historic touring cars, a combined BMC Challenge and Supersprint and Regularity time trials. Formula Ford led the single-seater fields, with the older Group L, M & O cars and the big Q & R wings ‘n slicks cars also running.
As always, the standard of competition was high and there was some genuinely exciting motorsport to enjoy. Scroll along, and enjoy the photos.
With thanks to the HSRCA. Head to their site here for the full wrap-up and even more photos.
