After four months of the all-too-familiar lockdown story, Sydney took its first tentative steps into the outside world last month. The Historic Sports and Racing Car Association NSW was quick to take advantage of the opportunity and get back on the track with a one-day ‘Return to Racing’ historic meeting. Scroll along and enjoy a few photos.
The club’s one-day Return to Racing meeting hosted just under 100 competitors at the countryside Wakefield Park circuit on Friday the 5th of November. Strong fields of Group N touring cars and Group S sports cars were joined by the ’60s sports and racing cars of Groups M & O, Formula Ford, older J, K and L cars and varied fields in Regularity and Supersprint.
Conditions were wet and cool, continuing the club’s rocky run with the weather and keeping drivers on their toes. That didn’t detract from the racing, however, and there were some great dices at all levels throughout the entry.
The club is planning a return to full-scale race meetings early next year, and we’re looking forward to seeing them back in action with a full and less disrupted season of historic racing in 2022.
