The renowned Gipimotor from Belgium is making available this spectacular CC Racing Group A 1982 Ford Mustang with history in the European Touring Car Championship.
The British-based CC Racing was responsible for the construction of the Mustang, which eventually appeared on European circuits in two different liveries. The car was finished in late 1982 and tested at Donington in April 1983.
The Mustang debuted at the Spa 24 Hours in 1983, the 10th round of the championship. It was piloted by Jean-Michel Martin and his brother Philippe and sponsored by Belga Team and Vince Woodman. Despite technical difficulties during qualifying, Martin managed to set the 14th time on the grid. During the race, Woodman hit a curb avoiding a backmarker, resulting in a bent track rod that eventually led to a wheel coming off and an early retirement.
At Silverstone, Woodman drove the car with his regular teammate Jonathan Buncombe. While running in 6th position, the Mustang faced problems during a regular pit stop, eventually returning to the race many laps down.
At Silverstone the car debuted in the colours of Equipe Esso and was driven by Vince Woodman and Jonathan Buncombe. An ETCC race in Zolder, Belgium, marked the next appearance of the Ford, followed by the 24 Hours of Spa. During both races the car appeared in Belga colours, driven by Jean-Michel Martin, his brother Philippe Martin and Vince Woodman.
This represents an excellent opportunity to take custodianship of a unique Ford Mustang More information with period ETCC history. More information and photos can be found here on the Gipimotor website.
