Born in the wake of the legendary Lister Jaguars, which dominated late-’50s sportscar racing, this beautiful Lister is eligible for historic racing events around the world and up for sale at DK Engineering.
Known as the ‘Knobbly’ thanks to the wheel-clearing bulges in their aluminium bodies, these Listers are cut from the same cloth as the famous Lister Jaguars, which were developed after a devastating fire at the Jaguar competitions department in ’57 saw Jaguar retire from international racing and make D-Type motors available to customers.
These cars featured a chassis adapted for the D-Type motor, with wider-diameter tubing to handle the new motor’s impressive output. While they were known for the D-Type configuration, the Listers of this period were also available with a three-litre version of the D-Type motor, a three-litre six cylinder Maserati motor and an Chevrolet V8.
Originally delivered to the United States, this particular car rocks a Chevrolet V8 up front, has been markedly successful in historic motorsport and was at one point in its life raced successfully by Stuart Graham, the only man to have won the TT racing both cars and bikes.
It’s in great condition having recently received a nut and bolt rebuild and a service and preparation for historic racing. Eligible for historic events around the world, this will make a lucky new owner very happy.
