Every second year, once the latest-and-greatest from the likes of Audi, Toyota and, this year, Porsche, are packed away, Circuit de la Sarthe kicks into top gear for something truly special – the Le Mans Classic.
In it, the cars and drivers which have made history at the great street circuit return to stretch their legs and have a little fun with a spot of historic motorsport. It’s an incredible spectacle, a brilliant atmosphere and a wonderful celebration of classic motorsport, and Jayson Fong’s latest gallery captures it all in tremendous fashion.
This year 110,000 people gushed through the gates, a record-breaking attendance that proves historic motorsport is alive and thriving.
And there was plenty for everyone to see and do, with the event packing all manner of historic motorsport magnificence into the grounds and surrounds of the epic Circuit de la Sarthe. The highlight? over 450 historic racing cars in six grids taking to the track for a full weekend of historic endurance racing.
Soldiering through the rain, sun, long nights and glorious days was intrepid Motorsport Retro photojournalist Jayson Fong, who captured all the action in the epic gallery you see before you. Settle in, and enjoy it.
