Williams’ FW15C has a very good claim on being one of the most technologically-advanced machines to come out of Formula 1’s history. Way head of the curve, the cars dominated the championship in 1993.

Offered for sale directly from Williams’ private collection for the first time in its history, this 1993 Williams FW15C, Damon Hill’s is a very exciting machine and a pretty special opportunity. Check it out.

Williams’ FW15C took the FW14B in which Williams, Nigel Mansell and Riccardo Patrese dominated the 1992 Formula 1 World Championship and pushed it to its utter limits. It would be the last of a contentious, but important breed of Formula 1 car.

In the early ’90s costs within the sport were spiralling out of control and the effect of driver’s aids on the quality of racing had come under heavy criticism from fans. 1994 saw huge rule changes that banned aids like active suspension, anti-lock brakes, traction control and launch control. The changes would produce a tumultuous season that would not pass without tragedy.

The FW15C took all of those technologies and pushed them to the limit of what was possible in 1993. Powering it was a V10 motor with pneumatic valve operation while an electro-hydraulic paddleshift handled gear shifting duties. Computer-controlled active ride suspension kept the car perfectly balanced wherever it was on the track and optimised its aerodynamic platform. Traction control, power brakes and power steering were basic creature comforts at this point!

This car is FW15C #02, which Damon Hill raced in 1993. It comes direct from Williams’ private collection and has never been offered for sale previously.

I will be sold with a comprehensive history file that includes photographs, engineering notes and race-by-race historic documentation from the Williams archive. A certificate of authenticity signed by Sir Frank WIlliams, Damon Hill and Adrian Newey will help your confidence, and an included desktop-sized scale model is just plain cool.

Williams will even offer ongoing storage, transport, maintenance and support as a separate service.

The lucky new owner will take ownership during a formal presentation and handover at Williams Grove Headquarters conducted by Jonathan Williams and Dickie Stanford.
