Hop back on board with Chris Harris for part two of his 73rd Goodwood Members’ Meeting adventures. This part is all historic touring car racing, all the time, as he tackles the Gerry Marshall Trophy in a Rover SD1.
And it has a good bit with Tiff Needell.
“Isn’t this what racing is all about? Insanely fast Minis hassling Camaros; gaggles of Capris slewing around the place.”
Monkey Harris’ ferocious sideways steering continues unabated in this video, which sees him and co-driver Chris Ward tackle the 45-minute two-driver Gerry Marshall Trophy for superb Group 1 Touring Cars.
The pair had qualified 23rd for the race after failing to finish the qualifying sprint race because of a driveline vibration. Harris was behind the wheel for the start with two laps of experience driving the car, and one cheeky practice start snuck in coming out of the holding paddock under his belt.
As one of the faster cars in the field the pair had a great race fighting their way back up to the pointy end, and there’s brilliant driving the whole way through. Make sure you stay until the end for a wonderful little interview with the drivers as well.
